Land Acknowledgement
The lands we reside on carry the stories, songs, patterns, and dance of Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial. These ancestral connections exist through language and place. Akpik Theatre acknowledges, as a nomadic company, that we always create on many First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples traditional territories, including our own. We are grateful to be inspired by these inherent lands. We offer that you, as a witness, also reflect on the Indigenous lands you reside on and offer your gratitude and active support to the Indigenous Peoples who stewarded this land and water long before today. It takes a community
Akpik Theatre has and always will be an umbrella organization that balances between northern and southern communities of art and ways of being. Each project is a process of excellence, learning and mentorship; which we thrive on. We are an Indigenous majority, project-based company that builds each production though multi-facetted support such as financial, in kind, knowledge and community. Community, it takes one to do what we do. If you are feeling inspired by who we are and the stories we tell, please click the DONATE button below. We would be thrilled to show our appreciation through a heartfelt acknowledgement on our site and in our newsletter!
