Anticipation
Based on her recent reality series experience with Dene A Journey where she went on her first beluga whale hunt, Reneltta Arluk created performance art piece, Anticipation. Named after the act of waiting for whale, Reneltta examines the impact of climate change in the North and explores the duality of culture Indigenous people face when living traditionally in a present world. Anticipation was developed with guidance from Kainai Nation artist Terrance Houle.

Land Acknowledgement
The lands we reside on hold the stories, songs, drawings, and dance of Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial. These ancestral connections precede the work both in language and place. Akpik Theatre acknowledges that we reside on the traditional territory of many Nations and Peoples and remain home to many First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples always. We are grateful to be inspired by these inherent lands and the lessons they teach. Anticipation was a meeting of worlds and navigating the truth within, climate and care. We offer, that you, as a witness, also consider the Indigenous land you reside on, wherever that may be and offer gratitude for the Indigenous Peoples who stewarded this land and water long before today.
